University president, Fr. Roberto Yap gives his opening remarks.

The students, who landed at XU’s gymnasium on July 24, 2012, were beaming with pride as representatives of their respective colleges showcased their talents in the GAlaxy: 28th University Wide General Assembly.

Each of the colleges was also launched by their respective representatives wearing their animated, artistically-made costumes which elicited cheers from the crowd. Albeit some shortcomings, the venue was filled with loud applause as each of the colleges entertained the crowd with their dance, song, and skit presentations.

Gracing the event was University President Fr. Roberto C. Yap, who welcomed the students to the yearly assembly with not just words of salutation but of invitation of active involvement in social change and development.

According to him, the General Assembly is a celebration of great diversity—gathering of students from different colleges with various characters and personalities. Nonetheless, he emphasized that despite our differences, “we are always united as one Xavier University community”.

The exploration of the GAlaxy ended with pledges of cooperation and active participation to the mission of each college and the University, lead by CSG President Dean Cris Acabo, together with the student council presidents.C
